AN INTERNATIONAL learning and development specialist will be in London in January 2009 to give advice on what makes a successful team and the benefits of letting employee engagement flourish.

Sara Burks, Managing Director of Adaptis Ltd., travels the world giving seminars on organisational development and learning issues.

She will be at the Institute of Directors in Pall Mall on Thursday, January 8 to give a half day best practice workshop on ‘Employee Engagement’ when it comes to management, leadership and team development.

Sara explained: “The recent report ‘How Engaged are British Employees?’ by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) highlighted a number of the issues facing employers in working to really involve and harness the energy and commitment of their workforce.

“Surveys typically show that the employees’ own line manager has a key part to play in creating an environment that allows engaged behaviours to flourish.”

Sara and her team have observed that key behaviours demonstrated by engaged employees include:

  • A clear understanding of the vision and values of the organisation
  • An understanding of the priorities that will deliver the organisation’s key business objectives
  • A willingness to add value and go ‘the extra mile’ (not necessarily by working longer hours) to perform effectively
  • A sense of personal responsibility in their own development and career management
  • A commitment to their immediate team and their colleagues across the business
  • A sense of pride in their work and the work of the organisation.

If you would like to find out how your organisation can benefit from greater employee engagement, Adaptis is running a half-day best practice workshop at the Institute of Directors in Pall Mall in London on Thursday, January 8 from 8.30am until 11.30am at a cost of £35 plus VAT per head.

Anyone interested in attending, should contact Sara Burks at Adaptis on 0845 2002246 or email Sara.burks@adaptis.co.uk.
